Capwatt is developing a Floating Photovoltaic pilot research project in the Monte Novo Reservoir, together with the University of Évora, ISQ and WavEC - Offshore Renewables, with the support of the Alliance for the Energy Transition (ATE). This project aims to study the environmental impact and efficiency of photovoltaic energy production in floating systems.

The objectives of this project are to deepen the understanding of the performance of this technology, contribute to informed decisions in the development of renewable energies and ensure sustainable environmental practices in continental bodies of water.

The environmental and performance benefits include soil conservation, reduced evaporation and carbon emissions, greater efficiency and energy production, less need for cleaning and preservation of natural ecosystems. This project is another significant step on our journey to a greener, more sustainable future!
